I think we spoke about this in game, D, but for the sake of other players who may not know, the GB comes with an Extra Primary Turret, so players can replace a Secondary, or a Missile Turret with it if they choose to.

The Liberty Gunboat with the stock turret is good. What's wrong with it?

Nobody says there is anything wrong with the GB. The extra gun is just so players can alter the setup if they choose to. Or, they can sell the extra, and pocket the $$.

I made a couple of upgrades to my Rhineland Gunboat. No pwer plent yet, but I did upgrade the sheild generator and armor plating. I'm doing a little better with it in omicron theta now. Still i can get overwhelmed pretty fast out there. The Corsairs are always stealing loot from me, and it taks a lot of discipline not to blow them all away. At least there I don't have a lot of battle groups getting in the way all the time. A couple if times they turned on me in Rhineland and I had to run for it.
I haven't worked with my gunboat in a group yet. I'm going to get more upgrades before I take it into the nomad territorys. Hopefully I'll be able to get some escorts to go along with me when I do. I don't think I'll last long out there by myself. In spite of the gunboats armor and weapons it'd pretty much a sitting duck for fighters. Even though the turrets turn fast it's still hard to keep your aim on fast moving fighter. I'm geting plenty of practice on the BH though.

Today was a good day for me in Theta. I manged to equip my gunboat with an advanced thruster. I also made a good bit of money there. The corsiars turned on me one time and I killed about 3 of them before I realized who was shooting at me. I took out the remaning 3 of them and sold 6 prisoners for 33k at malta. They got over it after a while and I managed to get them back in the green. I have to admit it felt good to kill some of them. They take a good bit of my loot when it's out of range of my tractor. Sometimes I'm tempted to kill them all! I really can't afford to deal with all that hostility though. If the BH can overwhlm me I know it will be impossible with the corsairs shooting me as well.
I'v e been going solo for while now. Kind of miss having help out there. At least I know I can deal with the BH on my own now. If only I could handle those nomads!

I had another good day in the Gunboat today. It was a little dicey for a bit. I had to use more than 200 nanos to stay alive during one scirmish. But it paid off since I ended up with an advanced thruster an an advanced CM to sell. I made well over 25 million in spite of the reapirs and replacement of nanos. Nanos are an essential element for survival in the gunboat. There's no way you're not going to get some damage when the enemy comes at you in full force. It was exciting though. They kept coming and coming and no corsairs were around to help me out. Sometimes I think they keep their distance on purpose just to se me take a beating. Ususally there are so many of them around I have to watch not to shoot one of them. They get me drops though. So it's prety much give and take on that. Still I think they get more drops from me than I get from them. Sometimes I focus on tractoring the distant drops during combat and let the corsairs deal with the enemy. It's a real mind game out there. Trying to decide wheter to shoot the closest enemy or go for the loot. If you're too slow to get the loot you lose it.
All in all I'm glad I bought that gunboat. It's been a great ride for me. A change in fighting tactics, and new strategys to work out.
I hardly take time to trade anymore. The armored transport brings me a lot of cash, but it's just not enough excitement most of the time. A week ago I went to colorado and punished the xenos with it for a while. That was fun and profitable. They bring all kinds of trade goods to the new york jumphole. If I sit there and kill every xeno that comes my way I make a lot of money. That's one way to make trading fun!

After a long break I took my gunboat out in Theta again. It was harder than usual this time. before I could get out of the cloudy asteroid field I got ambushed by a large number of BH. I used about 207 nanos trying to stay alive. I managed to kill them all before they could do me in. Even with my gunboat turrets it does take a little time to destroy one hammerhead. They came at me from behind, and my missiles did not fire at them so it was slow going. Pluss my energy was too low to fire the missiles most of the time. After another scirmish I ended up with no nanos and some damage to my hull. I pressed on anyway. They drop nanos and I didn't want to buy 300 nanos if I could help it. After a few more scirmishes with help from the corsairs I ended up with a few nanos and my hull repaired. I kept at it for a while and finnaly ended up with 197 nanos and a bunch of weapons to sell. I didn't get any high dollar items though. It was not a total loss though since I made more than I needed to repair my externally mounted equipment. I even put a chunk of change in the bank.
A couple of times the corsairs turned on me, but I noticed it quickly and ran from them. By doing so I managed to keep my rep in the green with them.
I look forward to the day I have this boat rigged to the max. It will be force to be reconed with, and an asset to any combat group.

I had another horrible moent in my gunboat today. Like the last time I got ambushed by a large group of BH and there were no corsairs around to help out. By the time I'd taken all the hammerheads out I was out of nanos and only had 55 batterys left. Plus my hull was showing 3.5 bars of damage. Not one to be sdsidcouraged I pressed on looking more enemys to kill. In the end it turned out well. I manged to finnish up with 107 nanos and 283 bats. After repairs and restocking I eneded up 117 mill in profits. The old addage that persistance pays off is definately true.

Today I made a couple of upgrades to my Valkyri II. I put in a MK11 power plant and a couple of bloodstones. The enrgy usage was quite ecceptable and the BH didn't know what hit em. Even the hammerheads went down quickly under my assault.
I dedided to try my guns on some nomads. I'd heard that there were easier nomad missions here and there so I went looking for them in house controlled space. I eneded up in New York and found some jobs there for a million plus. They were not neccesarily easy. But thanks to my new guns I was able to persevere. A couple of times I had backup. There are no words to describe how grateful I was for that. One job I found was level 34, and I was required to kill a nomad leader. Naturally there was no backup on such a mission. I did all right on that one though. There was only 4 nomads to kill. I took out the leader first then focused on his wingmen. Or is it wingmonsters? IDK. Any way I kept waiting for another wing of enemy ships to show up, and was relieved when none did.
I didn't get any equipment drops though. Not even a nomad gun. In fact I didn't even make any money because most of the time my repair cost exceeded my job pay. Only on one job did I actually make money. I had backup on that one. Never the less it felt good to take out some of those monsters. You can bet I'll be doing it again! :D

8) (will tell you one of my secrets if ya wanna hear it) 8)

(I don't kill the Leader first, I purposely take out the wing-men first, then I turn my attention to the leader) If you just Wound Him, he may do that fly away to escape bit, and will lead you to more targets that you then need to take out also.

This often gives you: 1. More Kills for your record; 2. Another chance to get some of that equipment you are seeking.

I do that with all "Kill the leader missions", not just the Nomad ones.

Today was more exciting than usual. I took my upgraded Valkyry II out, and teamed up wtih another pilot. Then We headed in to the upper unknown. There were nomads everywhere yet we persevered. The order was there in full force as well. Their help was much apreciated when we had it. I managed gun down a nomd gunbnoat and accuire a nomad turret. Since my valkyri didn't have a mount for turret I decided to trade it in for an anubis. It was a good decision since the anubis has a little better armor rating. That greatly improved my chances against the nomads. With the additon of the turret I was able to sell my remaing warrior. It's not that great a weapon anyway. I only mounted them to save energy in the first place. I put lancer missile in it's place just in case I needed some exrta heavy firepower in a desperate situation. You never know when you'll end up in a desperate situation out in the edge worlds. I managed to do several raids afterward in the omicron systems, Theta Gamma and 41. I didn't need to use the missiles but still I'm glad to have them just in case.
Those nomad missions I'd done the day before were a lot easier with my new ship and equipment. I now feel as though I can take on pretty much anything if I have to. I could probably take out a battleship if I used those missiles on it. I don't think I'll try that alone though. The anubis is rigged to the max now. The power plant can still be upgraded and the shield generator. But there's not much more I can do with it's firepower. I've considered using 4 bloodstones instead of 2. That would be some real firepower as they do 1300 damage per shot. I'd need a much better power plant first though. It's working well as it is. At least against fighters. Since the power plant and shield generator upgrades will cost about 2 billion it will be a while before that can be done. In the meantime I will be doing nomad missions and killng BH as much as i can with it. 8)

I decided to take it easy today. So I took my AT out to colorado and camped by the new york jump hole. I don't know how many xenos I took out but I sold 187 prisoners at rochester. I filed my bay about a quarter of the way up. I doubt that I'll ever want to hang around long enough to completely fill it. I brought back 357 silver along with about 6 other trade goods. I had water food hightemperatur alloys. Lane parts and luxury goods. As well as cobalt. In all I made over 4 million from the trade goods. I imagine there'd be much more profit if I filled that ship up wityh goods, but that could take a while. The bountry hunters kept hanging aruond waitng for pirates to come along. They were smart enuogh not to demand my prisoners though. I don't lnow why they do that in the first place. Then again many of them used to be pirates themselves. If they ever do turn on me out in colorado it will be a rough ride for them as well as me.

I teamed up again in my new anubis. We did nomad missions in lower unknown. I like killing those monseters. Their funny looking ships fly around like angry bees. They are so fast you can hardly hit them. Hardest target there are to hit. The only thing more challenging is to go against an ace freelancer. I seldom do that because it doesn't take long for the fight to be over. I rarely win when I do. When it's all said and done I'd rather blast nomads anyway. One day we might rid sirius of these monsters and make space safe for mankind once again.
