 Post subject: Searching for SP storyless Mods with new mission types

Hi all,


The title says it all...

II'm currently playing FL in SP with a Mod that opens up the play by getting the storyline out of the way. As for the Mod I currently use, for now I have no access to the computer on which it is installed, but I could find its name and version tomorrow morning. When I downloaded it, that was 2 yrs ago or so, it seemed to be quite popular for only getting the storyline out of the way without changing anything else.

But now that I've explored a great deal of the Sector, I would really like new mission types, like for instance Exploration, Reconnaissance, Escort, Cargo Run or others that could be imagined. Are there such Mods out there ? Surely someone would have felt that need to and some(other)one have Modded it ! Another wish I have would be to have the game styles rebalanced so that playing on the commerce side could be seriously envisionned, as I find the original balance far too shifted towards combat !

Thanks a lot for any hint, and sorry if in my noob status I did ask a housands-times-asked question...

It may be possible that someone has created new mission types but I am not aware of any particular mod that has accomplished this.

If you look in our mod advertising section we have dozens of mods shown here, look around and see if any of them pique your interest. Some of them do allow a better balance towards trading. :P

I know of one mod that wasn't bad for new missions called, "Bounty Hunters Revenge." It's an ad-on for Single Player. It was a long time back when I played it and was, if I remember right, not bad. Enhanced BH ships, weapons and many missions to undertake. I can't tell you for sure and/or if they even still have it but, I got the mod from (eeek!!!) Lancersreactor.

I still have the mod but not the permission to distribute it to others unless, we are in game and using Xfire and I can send the files for it through that.

Try looking here because there are some great mods, just not sure if one has a new story or not for SP? Hope this helps?

Thanks for the hints ! I'm searching, may take time. The Mod I currently use is "FlyByU'sOpenSP" and btw I noticed FlyByU is among us ^-^

Nice advice, just took a view of his site and it seems to be something like I was seeking for.

I downloaded the FLAdv077c.flmod and also a vastly upgraded FLMM (1.31 instead of 1.4) so I'm ready to begin anew ^-^

Hint: Adjust your cursor back some. The ships handle really well and turn quick. You will see the difference right off. If you see my friend St4rB|4st3r, let him know who you are and he will help you out some. Have fun. :D

Thanks for the hints ^-^ For now I'll just begin by SP. Then in some time (weeks or months) I'll connect and give MP a try. I've never played FL in MP, only SP so far, and have played few MP games.

Indeed MP takes way too much times. I began some 5 years ago and quickly shut everything down because not enough time... Work, Home, Sci-Fi writing, some gamedev, some role-playing developments, an Association, all that leaves only so much time for playing...

But if I find the Mod nice (and I think I'll like it), I may come back to MP on limited time ^-^

I took some missions and trade runs and indeed that's beefed-up ! Very nice setup, the new equipment and comodities are fine. I appreciate to be able to bribe any faction quite easily, it allows for much more room at an expense. I also appreciate the captured pilotes and the way factions react when you've got some. But I've not seen new mission types, still the same. Bah, maybe later.

Just noticed some crashes when coming out of Manhattan and pressing Escape to bypass the cut scene. Not bad, must have been because I've got a French FL install. I'll confirm then when I come to other planets, for now I'm exploring quite thoroughly the NY system and trying to find out the differences with the vanilla setup. Maybe I'll try to find the original English data files to avoid such issues...

St4r was on the server looking for ya all of yesterday but never found ya. You must be using a different name?

If you only stayed in NY then you haven't checked out many missions. There are some good ones but, I'm not really sure what you want in new missions?
Freelancer missions are only that unless, you're looking for server-side or something totally different?

The better you get in this mod, it does too. :wink: It's all about quickness and the ability to survive. If that's not mission enough, then you've lost me somewhere. :lol: PvP is a different sort as well.

Hopefully, you'll move out of NY and explore the mod further. It's a Vanilla conversion with lots added to explore, loot and full of surprises. 8)

I'm not on the server, I'm only playing Single-Player for now, until I get a little accustomed to the mod. Then I'll come to the server and let you know ! Got not much time for playing FL, that's why.
