hello all.

and thanks for the welcome btw.

I know I have just started freelancer bout 8 days ago. But I do like messing with in game stuff :-)

Totally noob with this stuff. Not what I am used too.
(1.)
I have gotten Milkshape 1.8.4, and have imported models, and it seems I have also gotten the .mat (textures) in with them, but they do not appear on model.

Any one know why? They should already be assigned to model.
Do they require the .dds files? Do they need to be re-assigned?

(2.)
Also, I have seen in textures folder some .dds files, which I am familiar with.
But it seems there are only a few, for what appears one ship.
Any pointers on skinning? tuts?
Such as where are all the other dds files?
Ship names and associated .dds files.

I can do all this in a breeze with C&C Westwood stuff.W3d files,.dds,.tga etc.

Just any helpful links, posts, replies would be greatly appreciated.

I am just having trouble navigating the FL files, and apps.

Most vanilla mat files are in a different directory than the cmp. Milkshape can't find them. Simply create a working directory and put them all in the same directory you point milkshape to.

To find where and what the mat file is called, just look up the ship in shiparch.ini and read the appropriate lines.
