24/7 Procyon Dedicated


Running on a blazing-fast fiber optic connection, 24/7 Procyon Dedicated is a vanilla-oriented server that features a wide array of unique and never before seen features via the use of our unique ProcyonHook software while staying unapologetically true to the original vanilla gameplay that made Freelancer what it is today. You will find no player-pilotable battleships... no beam weapons... no TIE Fighters... and no over-stuffed trading vessels capable of earning tens of millions of credits with a single cargo haul. What you will find is a balanced and fair PvP oriented server, unhindered by both disruptive rules and disruptive administration, with features you never thought possible.


What makes Procyon different?


- In-Game Clan Management & Chat
Run a clan? Register it on the server with our server-side /clan command, and start building up your roster - players that accept your invitation to join your clan will appear as green - friendly - to other clan members in space, and will be able to utilize ProcyonHook's custom Clan Chat channel, located between the Group Channel and System Channel on the player list screen. Made an enemy or two? Tag unfriendly clans as being hostile and their members will appear as such in-game to everyone in your clan. Want to mark another clan as friendly? You can do that, too.

- Site-Based Clan Database
All clans registered in-game are automatically added to the Clan Database page on the Procyon website, where users will be able to view the details of your clan - your roster, your enemies, and your allies. By logging in to our website using your clan name, and the password you specified when creating the clan on the server, you'll be able to add a short description/bio to your clan page, or start claiming and attacking systems available for ownership.

- Dynamic Vanilla-Friendly Clan Bases & Upgrades
Clans that own systems have the option to purchase private customizable server-spawned clan bases that only registered members of their roster and clans specified as being allied are able to dock on. These bases sell an assortment of discounted equipment, with a selection that can be expanded through the purchase of depot upgrades that unlock additions to your base's equipment dealer. Additional upgrades, offering a variety of features and functions are available, such as fully configurable weapon platforms that will only target those that you wish them to. All bases and upgrades are server-spawned, and are visible to people without requiring any sort of mod, or server restart - the moment an upgrade purchase is approved, it'll appear in space completely ready to be used.

- Automatic In-Game News Updates
Ever wish that the news boards you see on stations and planets weren't so static? That that you could be out flying around, only to dock and get notified that new articles had become available? Everything from server news, to the outcome of the large clan battle the other day, to information on the latest clan base constructed? Look no further.

- Mission Scripting in Multiplayer
Utilizing the same scripting engine that is used to power Freelancer's single player experience, Procyon's unique home made ProcyonServer software is able to execute mission scripts on command, enabling us to do everything from small automatic, preconfigured, NPC battleship spawns, to large scale PvE mini-events.

- Multiple Starting Profiles
Those of us that have played Freelancer for a long time can probably agree that creating new characters with the exact same starting ship, location, reputation, and so on can get a bit monotonous - ProcyonHook gives players the opportunity to mix things up a bit by adding the ability to select from one of several starting factions when creating a new character. The current faction line-up (which each package featuring unique starting locations, ships, loadouts, reputations and such befitting the faction for which it is named), which we plan on expanding heavily upon in the future is as follows:

• Xeno
• Rogue
• Outcast
• Liberty Navy
• Liberty Police
• Bounty Hunter
• Universal Shipping

- Cloaking, Done Right
Feel like sneaking around before ruining someone's day? Grab an Anubis fighter, and go on the prowl with a cloaking device that works via a standard configurable in-game hotkey - 'toggle cloak' - and that functions by dropping your shields and consuming weapons energy before disengaging when depleted.

- NPC Style Cargo Demands
Ever feel the urge to play the role of a quasi-honorable pirate that does not shoot directly on sight? Or the role of a Police or Naval officer tasked with shutting down illegal trade? ProcyonHook enables users to send NPC style cargo demands to other players, by way of a new icon that becomes visible while scanning another player's cargo with a commodity item selected.

- Superior Widescreen Support
There is no shortage of widescreen mods for Freelancer - unfortunately many of them are configured in such ways that the changes they make to a player's field of view are downright absurd - to the extent that many of them could, and should, be considered cheats in and of themselves. ProcyonHook addresses this by enabling all widescreen resolutions supported by a user's configuration to be selected from the in-game configuration screen, while enforcing proper settings that do away with blatant advantages in combat. Being forced to edit Perfoptions.ini by hand be damned.

- Anticheat
Our custom client-side ProcyonHook software acts as a client-side anti cheat solution, preventing players who are using it from editing exploitable game data. In addition to that, when you are using ProcyonHook, every other player connected to the server using it has their name highlighted on the player list in a delicious and vibrant orange - allowing those skilled players that are oft accused of cheating to step up and prove that their game is legit.

- Other Improvements
Where to start? We've increased the number of character slots on the server from five to eight for users running ProcyonHook, finally axed that annoying ESRB warning, enabled the Alt-Enter windowed mode hotkey, tripled the length of the once bite-sized chat box, completely overhauled the Alaska system, added dynamic unstable jumpholes, improved texture filtering, proper dynamic lighting systems for muzzle flashes, headlights, and projectile impacts, improved various nebulae within the game, restored working model animations to various ships, and massively tweaked the game's draw distances... and that's only on the client-side.

Server-side improvements include gradual nanobot hull regeneration, an in-game lottery system, the most powerful banking system ever witnessed in Freelancer, the ability to rename your own characters for a fee, and more.

- Automatic Updates
ProcyonHook is an ongoing project, one that we intend to stick with and improve upon with new features and further improvements - updates that couldn't be any simpler due to the use of our automatic update system.
