As I stated on another board I am attempting to expedite the process of building the GAMEDATA_mapinfo.txt file for Ioncross, specifically for total conversion mods. Some of the info I will keep down in the private admin area. If a utility comes out of this, that will also remain in the private area. I have no intention of helping players host other peoples mods when the author didn't intend it, but I felt that maybe someone reading this might be able to provide insight (who doesn't currently have access to the admin forums).

Here is a small sample of the vanilla files:

visit = 552, 65
visit = 2620, 65
visit = 2626, 65
visit = 2745, 65
visit = 3142, 65
visit = 3612, 65
visit = 3775, 65
visit = 6233, 65
visit = 8778, 65
visit = 13046, 65
visit = 14998, 65
visit = 15981, 65
visit = 18174, 65
visit = 18535, 65
visit = 19485, 65
visit = 21524, 65
visit = 21689, 65
visit = 23638, 65
visit = 25320, 65
visit = 26342, 65
visit = 26838, 65
visit = 28402, 65
visit = 29216, 65
visit = 30347, 65
visit = 30425, 65
visit = 32354, 65
visit = 33711, 65
visit = 34166, 65
visit = 36789, 65
visit = 36813, 65
visit = 37663, 65
visit = 41274, 65
visit = 41933, 65
visit = 42810, 65
visit = 43384, 65
visit = 44322, 65
visit = 45049, 65
visit = 47419, 65
visit = 47516, 65
visit = 49441, 65
visit = 51565, 65
visit = 51614, 65
visit = 53733, 65
visit = 55100, 65
visit = 55219, 65
visit = 56582, 65
visit = 57102, 65
visit = 57655, 65
visit = 57826, 65
visit = 58161, 65
visit = 65354, 65
visit = 2147573261, 41
visit = 2147591693, 41
visit = 2147684813, 41
visit = 2147992015, 41

===================================

Using CRCTool you can gleam that most of these early entries are 'Not found'. They don't exist. So why are they there?

Test 1: I started up my TC mod and made a clean file by launching and redocking. Currently this system has 25 test planets and 21 test billboards (to be deleted later). There are also 5 jumpholes and 6 permanent billboards. It came back with 87 entries. A visit of 30 was on the initial planet name and a visit of 41 was on the atm burn, planet zone and death zone. Everything else was a 1. Quite a few were 'Not found'.

More as I find it...

Test 2: I relaunched and flew by everything except the suns. No docking. This got me 160 entries. A small sample:

visit = 2180802690, 30 OR01_01_Origin
visit = 2703881101, 41 Zone_OR01_001_Origin_OR01_01_atmosphere_burn
visit = 2888278723, 41 Zone_OR01_001_Planet_OR01_01_Origin
visit = 2471964172, 41 Zone_OR01_Origin_death
visit = 3072252740, 1 Dock_Ring_OR01_01_Origin

visit = 2713821639, 1 OR01_Manual_01
visit = 3059983552, 1 OR01_Music_02
visit = 2441439626, 1 OR01_Elemental_04
visit = 2341526725, 1 OR01_Furyan_05
visit = 2671770948, 1 OR01_Necromongers_06
visit = 2603658243, 1 OR01_Rykengoll_07

visit = 2738442887, 1 OR01_planet_Test23_24
visit = 2197898881, 1 OR01_planet_Test24_25
visit = 2735291008, 1 OR01_planet_Test25_26

visit = 2953441539, 41 OR01_planet_Test1_02_death
visit = 2303389059, 41 OR01_planet_Test2_03_death
visit = 2274093571, 41 OR01_planet_Test3_04_death

visit = 2736132737, 1 OR01_planet_Test23_24_dock_ring
visit = 2413185669, 1 OR01_planet_Test24_25_dock_ring
visit = 2559992457, 1 OR01_planet_Test25_26_dock_ring

visit = 2206723658, 1 Not found.
visit = 2211942023, 1 Not found.
visit = 2274878536, 1 Not found.

Out of the 160 entries, 53 of them were 'Not found'. That is 33%.

Test 3: Same place, but this time I docked at test planet 12 and suicided into both suns. This gained me 3 more entries and 1 change.

visit = 2606611788, 31 OR01_planet_Test12_13, changed from 1 when I docked

I can only surmise at this stage that the 'Not found's are looking for something embedded in the exe files related to single player info. These entries in vanilla are probably what gives the 'bad visits' to your player files that some admins attempt to clean out. My guess is that those entries return as the player revisits those spots.

Interestingly enough, none of my 'Not found's were found in the vanilla files and none of the vanilla 'Not found's were found in mine.

Test4: Jumped through one jumphole. All it picked up were 10 parts to a nearby station and 1 not found. Still no entries for the jumphole! I can only guess that this 1 new Not found is for it.

Oh i've searched the whole world for this...

I've modding freelance for a while now, im making a mod called "Take Over" i've modded most Liberty systems (added a few) and replaced stations with some help of some tutorials. Now im also using Ioncross operator and i fixed already most of the bases but im still stuck on mapinfo...

i found some info about the ,1 ,41 ,65 behind the long id's or whatever they are. I've been looking for generators or something but they dont seem to exist...

if you found a solution for this i would realy like to have premission to what you've found.

The solution, sadly, is to grab a ship with a new character (empty your Multiplayer and Singleplayer folders first) and fly your whole map and pass by each object. Then pull the info out of your pilot file and add it to mapinfo.

I am about to do a rewrite of the Ioncross game data maker, this would be useful to add to it. I agree it should only be for server owners but eventually someone will let the info out...

If you would like some help then if possible let me have access to the private forum.

Thanks

@ LS, That would be great for a rewrite. I've been using it and it seems to be missing some data I'm having to find through trial and error. Eye searching in other words.

Yes, Ive noticed that as well. Since I just built Biocross xml gen for Biohazard, it makes sense to use that code for a new Ioncross data gen. It does separate out the data alot better.
