Soupman got some bad news from the hosts of our forum. For the UnderVerse.us and FreelancerCommunity.net we have been paying $81/year each for many years. Now they are demanding $295 each by March 4th.
With the small traffic at FLC I will let it die.
It would be a shame to loose the history at either site but neither Soupman or I are willing to pay this higher cost. Neither of us know how to port the sites to a cheaper host. Our guru there was Hydra who passed away recently.
Any way this goes the UV server will still be up and running for the diehards that have been with us over a decade.
Any thoughts?

Do you have FTP access and access to the sql databases?
I might be able to host the website then and you can use it for free (if the old code still runs in a more modern server environment or if it can be ported into a newer phpbb version).
You have excellent tutorials and FL related information here that nowhere else can be found. It would be a shame to lose that.
If you are really not interested in running this website then it might be at least not the worst idea to transfer such tutorials to other modding websites such as TSP.

I may be able to get a copy of them but my plan was with the weeks we have before shutdown ...this site will be around until about the first week in April the uv site expires March 4th thought I would copy what we needed to the new site I setup

Looking at the cpanel I do have the ability to download the db full structure other options

Thanks for the offer SWAT_OP-R8R! We have gotten some great news. One of our players (not sure yet if he wants to be anonymous) is co-owner of a hosting site and has volunteered to host both of the sites for a price Soupman and I can afford. If all goes well it may be up in a few days.
SWAT_OP-R8R, Soupman and I would also like to offer you access after this if you would wish to make an archive copy like you did with TLR. Like you pointed out there are some detailed tutorials here and it would be a shame to loose them if we end up in a similar situation years from now.

Both Sites have been moved to the new host and look fine
dwn will direct the domains to the new servers tonight .... once moved OP if you want i will give you access to go into maint and download a backup of he database

Appears the flc domain has found the new host...UV still hasn't but will sometime today I'm sure

Both sites are running now on the new host and we believe the sites are secure and will be up for even more years

If the future for the websites is secure now there most certainly is no need for hosting a backup somewhere else.
IF the situation changes I am willing to help out.
And advice that never can be wrong... keep backups of the website and its databases somewhere on your HDD (just in case).

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it. You can notify the website’s administrator about the problem.
