Running lights in FL

I didn't know if this was the right place to park this post, but I'm hoping some1 can answer this question. I am working on a little project right now, and one of my co-workers that I showed a SS of it, asked me a question. I think I remember that there was a "running light" HP option in game, and she asked me if you could put and see lights on my project in the game, and I said yes. What I can't remember is if the running light(s) in question could actually be seen while in space or did it only appear in a docking loading scene. :?:

I'm not ready yet to HP it yet, but I am curious if it is possible.

And there are quite a few sizes, colors and blinking speed.

You can have them as a solid colour, or see through, all sorts of options
